Douglas, Mr WM to ask the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation
How does he intend to (a) address the issue of political appointments for ambassadorships and (b) ensure that ambassadorship positions are not used as retirement parachutes for elderly politicians?
Reply:
The President and not the Minister has the prerogative to appoint Heads of Mission in terms of Section 84 (2) (i) of the Constitution.
