Clarke, Ms M to ask the Minister of Transport

(1)(a) How long did the former Deputy Minister, Ms L S Chikinga take to return the ministerial vehicles used while employed at his department after accepting a position in a different Department of Public Service and Administration and (b) what costs did his department incur in this regard; (2) whether any disciplinary action was taken against the specified person for allegedly flouting the provisions of the Ministerial Handbook; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details; (3) whether an investigation was launched into the (a) person’s practice of allegedly hiring rental vehicles from Avis for a relative which was paid for by his department and/or (b) relative’s excessive use of petrol expenses; if not, in each case, why not; if so, what are the relevant details of the (i) investigation and (ii) outcome of the investigation in each case? Reply:

(1) (a) The vehicle was returned on 29 May 2019.

(b) There were no additional costs incurred.

(2) (3) (a)(b)(i)(ii) Investigation was conducted in respect of the matter and disciplinary hearing is currently ongoing and in respect of employees.
