(1) What (a) total number of new dams are currently under construction and (b) are the details pertaining to (i) location, (ii) capacity and (iii) costs of each dam; (2) what (a) total number of new dams are being planned for construction in the foreseeable future and (b) are the details pertaining to (i) location and (ii) capacity of the dam that is planned? (1)(a) There are currently no new dams under construction. Current projects such as the raising of Tzaneen and Clanwilliam dams, are upgrades of existing dams.

(2)(a) The following 8 new dams that are being planned for construction in the foreseeable future:

  1. Nwamitwa Dam
  2. Lusikisiki Regional Water Supply Scheme - Zalu Dam
  3. Coerney Dam
  4. Foxwood Dam
  5. Mzimvubu Water Project (Stage 2) - Ntabelanga Dam
  6. uMkhomazi Water Project Phase 1 - Dam at Smithfield
  7. Cwabeni Off-Channel Storage Dam
  8. Stephen Dlamini Dam
