Steyn, Ms A to ask the Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development

(1) What (a) total number of community outreach events did her department host and/or participate in since 1 April 2020 and (b) was the main objective of each event; (2) whether any handovers to communities took place at the events; if not, what is the position in this regard; if so, (a) what are the details of each handover, (b) at what cost and (c) who were the recipients in each case; (3) what (a) are the details of elected officials such as Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Mayors and Councillors, who were present at each event and (b) was the total cost of each event to her department?

(1)(a),(b) The Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) hosted / participated nine (9) community outreach events including the handover events that will be discussed under question 2 below.

At the invitation of the farmers the objective was to explores and agree on appropriate interventions

Minister’s Engagements (two events) with Stakeholders in KwaZulu Natal and Gauteng Province

To establish the impact caused by the recent unrest in Kwa-Zulu Natal and Gauteng Province and its impact in the sector and determine appropriate response

(2)(a),(b)(c) Three events to hand over title deeds to the beneficiaries of land reform were held in this period as follows:

Handover of title deeds to the Covie community situated in Ward 1 Bitou Municipality under the Garden Route District Municipality in the Western Cape Western. The handed over property amounts to approximately 765 hectares of land consisting of

17 allotments and the commonage. Implements were also handed over to the households to enable them to work the land. The event was attended by:

The Covie community

Handover of title deeds to Tafelkop Farmers Association (formerly Hereford Farmers Association) in Groblersdal In Limpopo for the properties consisting of 189 Hectares of land and benefiting 31 households. There was no direct cost for the hand over to DALRRD as the event was led by the department of Public Works and Infrastructure, however, the department had already provided financial support for production inputs like seedlings, seeds, fertilizers and chemicals to the value R4 187 751.90 through the
