Meeting report

The Committee congratulated Committee Support Staff for a job well done on the Draft Committee Budget Vote 6 Report.

The Chairperson asked the Committee to be expeditious in considering the Draft Committee Budget Vote 6 Report. There were members who needed to prepare and complete their speeches for participation in plenaries later in the day.

Mr Lubabalo Sigwela, Committee Secretary, said that Ms S Kalyan (DA), Mr S Mokgalapa (DA) and Mr D Bergman (DA) had submitted apologies for not being able to attend the meeting. All three members of the DA had via email reserved their right to vote on the Draft Committee Budget Vote 6 Report.

Draft Committee Budget Vote 6 Report

The Chairperson placed the Draft Committee Budget Vote 6 Report before the Committee for consideration and adoption. He proceeded to take members through the Draft Committee Budget Vote 6 Report page by page. He asked members to make inputs where they deemed it necessary.

Members were encouraged to look at the Committee’s observations and recommendations as contained in the Draft Committee Budget Vote 6 Report as issues identified could be spoken to in their debates later in the day. Responses from the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) captured in the Draft Committee Budget Vote 6 Report were also considered useful for members to use in debates.

Members effected grammatical changes to the Draft Committee Budget Vote 6 Report. No substantive changes were made.

The Draft Committee Budget Vote 6 Report was adopted as amended.
