Progress report of the Portfolio Committee on Communications on the process followed on recommending a person to be appointed to serve on the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Board, dated 8 November 2011

 

The Portfolio Committee on Communications, having considered the nominations of candidates submitted for appointment to serve on the SABC Board in terms of the Broadcasting Act, No. 4 of 1999, reports as follows:

 

A request from the Minister of Communications to fill a vacancy on the SABC Board was referred to the Portfolio Committee on Communications on 31 August 2011 (see ATC 31 August 2011). The Committee advertised calling for nominations to fill the vacancy.

 

The Committee received 52 CVs and agreed to shortlist the following candidates:

 

1. Ms Nthabiseng Petunia Samba

2. Mr Denis Lillie

3. Mr Kenneth Herold

4. Prof Sadhasivan Perumal

5. Mr Lionel Recardo Adendorf

6. Mr Thami Ka Plaatjies

 

The interviews are scheduled to take place on Thursday, 10 November 2011.
