What are the relevant (a) standing orders, (b) national instructions and (c) standard operating procedures governing the transportation of accused persons in police custody between SA Police Service holding facilities and the courts?
Reply:
(a), (b) and (c) The transportation of persons in custody of the Service is governed by Standing Order (G) 345 which includes the transportation of accused persons who are in police custody between SA Police Service holding facilities and the courts. SO (G) 345: Transportation of persons in custody of the Service and related matters, deals with all the operational aspects applicable to the transportation and escorting of persons in custody of the Service. The Standing Order prescribes the applicable operational aspects once a person in custody must be transported, including all the relevant arrangements which must be performed in order to ensure safe and secure transportation.
