Meeting Summary
The Committee met to elect a new Chairperson following the resignation of the previous Chairperson from the Western Cape Provincial Parliament. The Committee elected Ms W Philander (DA) as the new Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Social Development, unopposed.

Election of Committee Chairperson
The Committee Secretary indicated that in terms of the rules of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament, following the resignation of the previous Committee Chairperson from the legislature, a new Committee Chairperson would need to be nominated and elected from Committee Members. She called for nominations.
Mr C Fry (DA) nominated Ms W Philander (DA).
Mr G Bosman (DA) seconded the nomination.
There were no further nominations.
Ms Philander was declared the elected Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Social Development.
The Chairperson thanked Members for their trust in her.
The Committee would meet in future to convene further business.
The meeting was adjourned.
