Meeting Summary

Tracking the Climate Change Bill in Parliament

The Committee decided to postpone the meeting to 8 August 2023 to give the Department more time to present its response to the submissions on the Climate Change Bill.

Meeting report

The Chairperson welcomed all the attendees to the meeting.

Apologies

The Committee received apologies from Ms A Weber (DA) and Mr N Singh (IFP)

Opening Discussion

The Chairperson informed the Committee that the Department requested that the meeting be postponed so that they could have more time to go through the Climate Change Bill submissions and give a thorough review of each submission.

Mr D Bryant (DA) said that an extension should be granted for an effective engagement with the Department on the matters raised.

He said that the proposed trip to Pretoria and North West had not been added to the official Committee programme; it would be good to know the specific details of the trip so they could plan accordingly.

Ms N Gantsho (ANC) agreed that the meeting should be postponed.

The Chairperson requested that the Committee secretariat attend to the confirmation of trip details as a matter of urgency. He then concluded that the Committee had granted the Department an opportunity to appear before them on 08 August 2023 and apologised to the citizens of the country for the inconveniences that could have been caused.

Meeting adjourned.
