MINUTES
The Chairperson opened the meeting and welcomed members present. He mentioned that there was dissatisfaction about the Committee meeting only on Fridays, and he said that he was negotiating with the Chief Whip of the NCOP and the Chairperson of Committees (NCOP) about this. The Committee then proceeded to consider the Draft Annual Programme that was presented to it.

Consideration of the Draft Annual Programme
After going through the programme thoroughly, members expressed the view that it was well done and that they had no additions to make to it. The Chairperson and the Committee Secretary were thanked for their efforts. However, there was the observation that the programme would be applied flexibly and that provincial trips could be increased if the budget allowed.

The Chairperson expressed the view that the Committee should formally adopt the programme when a quorum was present.

General
The Committee was heartened by the attendance as observers of members of SALGA, the media and private individuals. The view was expressed that this trend should be encouraged.
