The Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies  invites you to submit written comments on the South African Postbank Amendment Bill [B 12-2022]

The Bill seeks to amend the South African Postbank Limited Act, 2010, so as :
▪ amend and insert certain definitions;
▪ amend the objects of the Act;
▪ provide for the transfer in shareholding from the South African Post Office SOC Limited to Government and the creation of a bank controlling company for ‘‘The Postbank SOC Limited’’ in terms of the Banks Act, 1990;
▪ provide for the appointment of the Chief Executive Officer and The Chief Financial Officer; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

Comments can be emailed to Ms Hajiera Salie at [email protected] by no later than Tuesday, 4 October 2022

Please note you can also fill in the online submission form

The Bill was previously open for comment until 25 July 2022. In a meeting on 20 September 2022, the Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies considered and deliberated on written submissions from members of the public on the Bill. The committee noted that it received only three written submissions after considerable consultation. The committee also admitted that these responses are insufficient, given Postbank’s mandate. The committee has therefore resolved that the public comment process be further extended for another two weeks for more public participation.

In addition to the written submissions, please indicate if you are interested in making a verbal presentation to the Committee.

Enquiries can be directed to Ms Hajiera Salie on cell 061 472 9191
