SUMMARY
The Committee considered and adopted its Report, with amendments. The Chairperson announced his redeployment to another Committee, and was bid farewell by Members.

MINUTES
Committee Report on Northern Cape visit
The Chairperson instructed Members to survey the report and to provide any input.

Mr L Maduma (ANC) complained that the report lacked sufficient detail. It did not adequately capture all the issues raised during the oversight visit to the Northern Cape.

Members concurred with this observation and highlighted some of the issues that were not properly addressed in the report.
 
The Committee Secretary explained that the researcher had compiled a comprehensive report on the oversight visit to the Northern Cape. She added that this could be provided to the Committee.

The Chairperson believed that the report was accurate, barring the omission of the researcher’s report. He suggested that this detailed Report be appended to the Committee report under discussion.

This proposal was accepted and the Report was approved with amendments.

Concluding remarks by Chairperson
The Chairperson stated that the process for adoption of reports was often time consuming because of all the amendments. Henceforth all other reports tabled for adoption must be set aside for the following week. Members were advised to review the content of all the other Committee Reports prior to their meeting next week, and all grammatical and minor errors were to be communicated to the Committee Secretary.

This proposal was unanimously endorsed.

The Chairperson declared that he would be redeployed to another Committee. He thanked Members for their support and reminisced about his tenure on the Committee.
 
In response Members bid the Chairperson farewell and expressed their unanimous appreciation for his Chairperson’s leadership and guidance.

The meeting was adjourned.
