Officials who appeared before the Committee included the following:

Discussion
The chairperson welcomed the officials and committee members present and
explained the meeting agenda for the day.
1.
Consideration
of the committee’s draft
composite report on the oversight visits to the EC; NC; FS; KZN; Gauteng and
Limpopo - 07-09 and 11-15 October 2004
Mrs Tshivhase explained that the data from the Limpopo province visit was
regrettably lost. Attempts to retrieve proved unsuccessful, she said.
After considering the contents of the committee’s draft composite report on the oversight visits to the EC; NC; FS; KZN;
Gauteng and Limpopo, Mrs I Mars moved for the adoption of the draft report by
the meeting, whereupon Mr M Waters supported her.
2.
Consideration of the committee’s North West province oversight visit report – 01-05 August 2005
Subsequent to considering the contents of the committee’s
draft report on the oversight visit to
the North West province, Mrs I Ludwabe moved for the adoption of the draft
report by the meeting, whereupon Mrs I Mars supported her.
3.
Consideration of the draft
committee report on the Annual Report of the Department of Social Development.
Subsequent to considering the contents of the committee’s
draft report on the Annual Report of the
Department of Social Development (2005), Mrs I Mars moved for the adoption of
the draft report by the meeting, whereupon Ms IW Direko supported her.

Consideration of the committee’s
draft Annual Report - 2005
Subsequent to considering the contents of the draft report on the committee’s Annual Report (2005), Ms IW Direko moved for the
adoption of the draft report by the meeting, whereupon Mr M Waters supported
her.
5.
Consideration of the South African Human Rights Commission – Economic and
Social Rights, 5th Report 2002/3
In considering the above-mentioned report, the meeting
merely noted the contents thereof.
6. General matters
The committee’s secretary, Mr M Fukula reported that the report of the
committee’s strategic planning workshop that took place on 15-16 May 2006 was
expected sometime during the course of today as per agreement with the workshop
facilitator, Ms N Ned.
The meeting thereafter adjourned with the understanding that it will stick to
the resolution of the Committee’s strategic planning workshop, that took place
on 15-16 May 2006 and not arrange for any meetings in the next two weeks.
