DISCUSSION ON THE NATIONAL WATER BILL [B34-98]
Apologies:
The Director-General was unable to attend the meeting.
Minutes of the meeting:
The purpose of this meeting was to revise the alterations made to the
National Water Bill.
During the meeting clauses 93 to 123 were completed and various issues
were raised, which members were unhappy about. This meeting was hectic
because members of the various parties kept moving back and forth on
clauses that have been covered and agreed upon already.
The main focus of this meeting was to discuss the safety of dams. Members
felt that there are dams that pose as a safety risk. This then lead to a
lot of confusion about the definition of dams, dams that pose as a safety
risk and reservoirs. The matter was then forwarded to the Committee, who
then decided to reconsider these definitions.
The Committee will address any alterations made at the next meeting.
