The Chairperson said that the Committee would be divided into two groups. One group would go to KwaZulu-Natal and the other to the North West Province for an oversight visit of Labour Centres and Multi-purpose Centres. The scheduled date for the visit was 15 August 2005.
The Committee Secretary would inform Members in due course about targeted areas after proper consultation. She urged Members to indicate on time whether they would be available for the Eastern Cape visit.
The Committee Secretary informed Members that the Department of Communications had invited Members to a workshop on the Convergence Bill. Sentech had also invited Members to their own workshop on that Bill. On 7 September 2005, the Committee would meet with Denel.
Ms Ntwanambi (ANC) suggested the inclusion of Arrivia.Kom and Portnet in the 7 September meeting with Denel.
The Committee Secretary reported that the studytour to Malayisia had been postponed because they could not finalise logistics with the High Commissioner.
