BROADCASTING OF SPORTS EVENTS OF NATIONAL IMPORTANCE: TARGETTED HEARINGS

The Committee met and noted that the Independent Broadcasting Authority, South African Broadcasting Corporation and e.tv which were to present their views on the subject and to give the Committee the list of sports events the different channels broadcast, must first meet with the Minister on Friday 25 February 2000 before they can address the Committee. Whether or not these bodies will address the Committee will be determined by the outcome of the meeting with the Minister.

The Committee members who had visited Free State Province were not ready with their report to the Committee.

The meeting was adjourned.
