Committee Draft Programme

SUMMARY
The National Council of Provinces and State Law Advisers had noticed a minor discrepancy in the Companies Amendment Bill B10B-2004. The Committee formally adopted this amendment.

MINUTES
The Chairperson briefly introduced the proposed amendment to 'Substitution of certain expressions in the Companies Act 61 of 1973'. In Clause 5(a), the Committee agreed to omit "in the 'Arrangement of Sections" opposite section 401 and". He moved for adoption of this amendment.

Discussion
Mr S Rasmeni (ANC) enquired who had identified this minor error and when. He regarded the whole exercise as a waste of valuable time and money.

The Chair replied that the State Law Advisor and National Council of Provinces had detected the error. The electronic version was different from the printed version, and some had people become suspicious. It was then apparent that certain parts were not part of the original act.

Ms F Mahomed (ANC) moved for the adoption of the amendment. Dr E Nkem-Abonta(DA) seconded the motion and the Committee unanimously adopted it.

The meeting was adjourned.
