SUMMARY
The committee voted on the Redetermination of the boundaries of Cross-Boundary Municipalities Bill and it was unanimously adopted without any amendments.

MINUTES
The Chair put the Redetermination of the boundaries of Cross-Boundary Municipalities Bill before the committee and it was adopted without any amendments.

Mr Bhabha informed the committee that discussions are currently taking place between traditional leaders and government on the Municipal Structures Second Amendment Bill. He added that amendments would be made to the Structures Bill, that they as Parliament would have to consider.

The Chair stated that the committee would be sitting jointly with the Portfolio Committee to listen to public hearings and deliberating on the Structures Bill. He however made it clear that the Select Committee would be voting on the Structures Bill separate from the Portfolio Committee as is required by Parliamentary procedure.

The Chair stated that the meetings are from 16 November 2000 up until 20 November 2000. The meetings are scheduled to run daily from 10 am until 6 pm. He added that on 21 November 2000 they would be engaging in the plenary debate.

The Chair also announced that the clerk of the committee, Edgar de Koker was leaving the committee as he was being promoted. He thanked Edgar for the excellent work that he had done for the committee. Ms Ntombi Madidi was introduced as the new clerk. The Chair adjourned the meeting.
