The Chairperson read the report as follows: “The Select Committee on Security and Justice, having considered the subject of the Maintenance Amendment Bill [B 16B – 2014] (National Assembly –sec 75), referred to it, reports that it has agreed to the Bill without proposed amendments”.

The report was adopted.

Minutes of 20 May 2015
Department of Justice and Constitutional Development on its Strategic Plan, Annual Performance Plan and Budget Allocation; adoption of minutes and adoption of reports.

Mr L Nzimande (ANC; KZN) noted that in the minutes he was reported as having sent an apology for that meeting, but according to his knowledge he was present in that meeting.

The Chairperson said that would be corrected by the Committee Secretary.

The minutes were adopted with amendment.

Minutes of 26 May 2015
Adoption of reports on Department of Correctional Services; Department of Justice and Constitutional Development; South African Police Service; and Independent Police Investigative Directorate.

Mr. Nzimande said that they needed to reconcile the attendance registers because in other meetings he has been reported as absent whilst he was present.

Mr J Julius (Gauteng, DA) said that the Committee Secretary should bring the attendance registers to the meeting so as to check and reconcile them.

Ms G Manopole (ANC, Northern Cape) said it was the duty of the Committee staff to reconcile the registers and it was not necessary to bring them to the Committee.

Mr M Mhlanga (Mpumalanga, ANC) agreed with Ms Manopole that the Committee staff was responsible for the attendance register and it was not necessary to bring them to the meeting.

Mr. Julius said that all he wanted was the reconciliation of the attendance register.

The Chairperson ruled that the Committee staff would reconcile the attendance registers.

The minutes were adopted.
