MINUTES
Draft Committee Programme
The Chairperson opened the meeting by thanking all Members for their participation in the recent Committee oversight visits to Gauteng and KwaZulu Natal.

He informed the Committee that, after a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly and Parliament’s Programming Committee, the Committee’s programme had to be revised so as to ensure that the deadline for adoption of the Correctional Services Amendment Bill on 14 September was maintained. Notification of public hearings for the Bill had already been printed in national newspapers.

Mrs S Seaton (IFP) proposed the programme be adopted.

Mr I Vadi (ANC) seconded.

The Chair noted that the Programme was adopted, without amendments.

Committee Report on Western Cape oversight visit and Committee minutes
Ms W Ngwenya (ANC) and Ms Seaton both stated that, as they only received the documents today, they were not prepared to discuss them. Ms Seaton proposed that the reports be held over for a later meeting.

The Chair agreed and suggested Friday 24 August. The proposal and date were seconded and agreed.

Other Committee business
The Chair congratuled Ms Imogen Davids, the previous Committee Secretary, who had just been promoted to Secretary for the Deputy Minister of Health. Ms Claudine Adams had been appointed as the interim Committee Secretary. He proposed that a small task team comprising Ms Seaton and Mr Tolo (ANC) plan a small function to for Ms Davids to express the Committee’s thanks.

The chair adjourned the meeting.
