Electricity and Energy
The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) is a regulatory authority established as a juristic person in terms of Section 3 of the National Energy Regulator Act, 2004 (Act No. 40 of 2004). NERSA’s mandate is to regulate the electricity, piped-gas and petroleum pipelines industries in terms of the Electricity Regulation Act, 2006 (Act No. 4 of 2006), Gas Act, 2001 (Act No. 48 of 2001) and Petroleum Pipelines Act, 2003 (Act No. 60 of 2003).
On the 15 April 2016, The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA or ‘the Energy Regulator’) published a consultation paper on the review of the MYPD Methodology, with timelines for approval. Subsequently on 2 June 2016, the Energy Regulator held its public hearing on the MYPD consultation paper.
Due to the growing demand from stakeholders and for a more open and transparent regulatory process, NERSA has decided to extend the consultative process and get more inputs on the Draft MYPD Methodology. As part of this process, NERSA is requesting that stakeholders comment on the Draft MYPD Methodology as well as indicate if they would like to present at a public hearing.
Kindly note that the date of the public hearings will be communicated in due course based on the demand.
