The Pan South Africa Language Board (PanSALB) (“The Board”) was established in terms of the Pan South African Language Board Act, 1995 (Act No. 59 of 1995), (“The Act”), to monitor and evaluate the implementation of multilingualism and promote and develop previously marginalised languages.

On behalf of the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture and the Portfolio Committee on Sport, Arts and Culture, the Ad-hoc Committee appointed in terms of section 5(3)(a) of the Act hereby calls on members of the language fraternity and the general public to nominate eligible persons to serve as members of the PanSALB Board for a term of five years.

Nominees should be South African citizens, have a broad understanding and experience in the field of language, be broadly representative of the diversity of the users of official languages (including Sign Language), and have linguistic knowledge. Nominations of persons with legal expertise, expertise in financial management, fundraising expertise, corporate governance, or in any other field that will allow the Board to fulfil its obligations are also encouraged.

Youth and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Anyone wishing to nominate persons to serve on the Board should submit the following documents to the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture

• A recently updated Curriculum Vitae of the nominee, certified copies of qualifications including the names and contact details of three referees; and
• A brief statement, signed by the nominee, explaining his/her suitability for appointment.

No nomination will be considered unless all the above are included.
