Divorce Amendment Bill

The Select Committee on Security and Justice invites you to submit written submissions on the Divorce Amendment Bill [B 22-2023].

The Divorce Amendment Bill [B 22-2023] seeks to;
• amend the Divorce Act, 1979, so as to insert a definition for a Muslim marriage;
• provide for the protection and to safeguard the interests of dependent and minor children of a Muslim marriage;
• provide for the redistribution of assets on the dissolution of a Muslim marriage;
• provide for the forfeiture of patrimonial benefits of a Muslim marriage;
• and to provide for matters connected therewith.

Submissions or general enquiries can be emailed to [email protected] by no later than 13h00 on Tuesday, 5 December 2023.
