Report of the Select Committee on Transport, Public Service and Administration, Public Works and Infrastructure on the Civil Aviation Amendment Bill [B 44B – 2018] (National Assembly – sec 75), dated 24 November 2021:

 

The Select Committee on Transport, Public Service and Administration, Public Works and Infrastructure, having considered the subject of the Civil Aviation Amendment Bill [B 44B – 2018] (National Assembly – sec 75), referred to it, reports that it has agreed to the Bill.

 

A.         Process followed by the Committee

1. The Bill was referred to the Select Committee on Transport, Public Service and Administration, Public Works and Infrastructure on 11 May 2021.
2. The Department of Transport briefed the Committee on 25 August 2021.
3. The Committee invited written comment on the Bill in two national newspapers in two official languages, namely English and Afrikaans. Parliament’s website and social media platforms were used to advertise the invitation for written comment on the Bill in all 11 official languages.  The Committee received three written submissions.
4. On 17 November 2021, the Committee received oral submissions from three stakeholders and considered responses by the Department to the written submissions received.
5. On 24 November 2021, the Committee agreed to the Bill.

 

B.         Recommendation

The Select Committee on Transport, Public Service and Administration, Public Works and Infrastructure recommends that the Council passes the Bill.
