Report of the Select Committee on Security and Constitutional Development on the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act Amendment Bill [B 19 – 2012] (National Assembly – sec 75),dated 5 June 2012:

The Select Committee on Security and Constitutional Development, having considered the subject of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act Amendment Bill [B 19 – 2012] (National Assembly – sec 75), referred to it, reports that it has agreed to the Bill.

The Select Committee noted the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development’s report requesting the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development to report to Parliament, within twelve months, on the desirability and feasibility of introducing specific penalties for those offences to which specific penalties are not affixed in the Criminal law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act, 2007.

The Select Committee agreed that, due to the urgency of the matter, twelve months would be too long and submits that the Minister must report to Parliament within six months.

Report to be considered.
