Report of the Select Committee on Land and Mineral Resources on the invitation by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to nominate candidates to serve on the National Agricultural Marketing Council (NAMC), dated 01 March 2016.

 

The Select Committee, having received the invitation from the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to nominate candidates to serve as Members of the National Agricultural Marketing Council in accordance with Section 4 (4) (a) of the Marketing of Agricultural Products Act, (Act No. 47 of 1996) as amended by Acts No. 59 of 1997 and No. 52 of 2001, referred to it on 14 August 2014, reports as follows:

 

On 17 September 2014, the Select Committee requested an extension from the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to enable the Committee to nominate suitable candidates to serve on the National Agricultural Marketing Council (NAMC).

 

The Select Committee, has to date, received no response for the extension to deal with the Ministers request and therefore reports that the Committee is unable to conclude its deliberations on the matter referred to it.
