Progress report of the Portfolio Committee on Sport and Recreation on shortlisting of candidates to serve on an independent board to hear and decide on appeals against decisions made in terms of the Safety at Sports and Recreational Events Act (Sasrea), Act 2 of 2010, dated 25 August 2015

 

The Portfolio Committee on Sport and Recreation, upon referral to it of a letter from the Minister of Sport and Recreation, requesting the Assembly to recommend at least seven suitable candidates for appointment to the Appeal Board established in terms of section 26 of the Safety at Sports and Recreational Events Act (Sasrea), Act 2 of 2010, advertised a call for nomination of persons to serve on the Sasrea Appeal Board.

 

The committee received 23 nominations and subsequently shortlisted 15 candidates. Verification results have been received for the following 13 candidates: Ms A L Mokoena, Mr M S Pila, Mr C A Bassuday, Ms N F Mdanda, Mr F B Komane, Mr D J Block, Ms T Semane, Mr K H K Khoza, Mr R H Ndobela, Dr W Rowland, Mr V Ndara, Mr E P Janse van Vuuren, Mr R Vassen.

 

 

The committee is awaiting verification results for two shortlisted candidates.
