1. |
Transformation: a)
The
longstanding policy of 7 players of colour for World Cup squads will
apply. The same requirement will also
be applicable on tours comprising of 15 or more players. b)
A
non-enforceable target of 4 players on the field of play is set as an objective. The Board must be alerted should it be the
perception that the system is not delivering the required resources to meet
these objectives. c)
The current
“previously disadvantaged bias” applicable when players of equal ability are
debated, will still apply. d)
Regular tour
and match strategies should be presented and explained to Cricket South e)
Opportunities
must continue to be created for previously disadvantaged communities and the
replacements and backup of these resources should be monitored. |

Selection Process: a)
Thorough
pre-selection preparations should be completed in terms of fitness, as the
unavailability of players due to injury has caused logistical problems in the
past. b)
The necessary
channels should be created to ensure a free information flow between coaches,
trainers, medical support, and the selection panel. c)
The selection
of the team and squad will take place based on the following criteria: conditioning, ability, current performance
level, team composition, fitness, squad system, match strategy and CSA
policy. d)
The touring
squad will be presented to the President to ensure that CSA policy has been
met. After the President has agreed to
the squad, it will be forwarded to the CEO and media manager for release. During home matches the
convenor, coach and selectors will select the final 11. During matches outside the country the
travelling selector will act as convenor, and the team will be selected by
the touring selector, coach captain, and appropriately co-opted tour
management. |

South African “A” and
“Emerging Squads”: a)
It was
decided that the team selected would play under the name SA “A”, when all
players in the country are available, and the selected team will be as close
to a second best side as possible. The
SA President’s XI and SA Emerging teams will be utilised to create
opportunity for all players. The CEO
will clear these squads in terms of CSA policy requirements. |
