PUBLIC HEARING: FINANCE TO SMME’s

Submission by Noluthando Langeni (of Eyethu Butchery)

I am interested to participate in the debate because of the experience I have had with both Standard Bank and Nedbank Bank.

a) they have no passion to assist emerging SMME’s though small business offer more employment opportunities, as they are not capable of replacing human resources with machinery.

b) they stick to formal pre-requisites of collaterals – tangible ones for that matter no matter what.

(c) it is difficult to get working capital as there is no security and therefore a lot of businesses are forced to close or be severely compromised.

d) cheques are telephonically made in advance even for an amount as little as R954.00 therefore we lose credibility and no body likes to give us credit.

e) we are forced to buy stock for cash at the expertise of all – and even over week-end when we need stock to carry us till Mondays in which case we run without. I can offer even more.
