The Portfolio Committee on Sport and Recreation intends to conduct an oversight visit in Western Cape Province from 1 to 3 August 2017 in order to: Assess the use of DORA grant allocations for the implementation of sport and recreation programmes, community participation and participation opportunities available to communities; Assess whether provincial plans are aligned to the mandate of SRSA of implementing the NSRP vis-à-vis provincial outcomes; Assess the impact of facilities build for sport and recreation from the MIG allocation; and Monitor the implementation of the model on sport focused schools in assisting talented athletes to achieve their potential.

Objectives of the oversight: To assess and evaluate integration of tourism priorities amongst the three spheres of government; Support for development of SMMEs; Assess the extent of grading and compliance by establishments; Support for the development of tourism products and attractions; and Provincial tourism sectors contribution to job creation and economic growth.
