The petroleum industry is confronted by several challenges, amongst others, the declining refining capacity, jet fuel shortages, the need for the industry to reduce carbon emissions in line with international commitments on climate change and the challenges associated thereto. Sasol is the biggest petrochemical company in South Africa and is already confronted with the challenges as outlined above. The Committee is therefore interested in learning broadly about the petroleum industry, its value chain, the challenges confronting Sasol and how Sasol is resolving the challenges.
