support that is given to smallholder and subsistence producers for enhanced food production at national and household level through programmes such as the Comprehensive Agriculture Support Programme (CASP) and Ilima/Letsema;
state of readiness for the implementation of the Smallscale Fisheries Policy, which is aimed at benefitting previously disadvantaged coastal communities and
contribution of small growers to the forestry industry.

The Portfolio Committee on Telecommunications and Postal Services will conduct over various entities. It intends to visit Sentech head office, Gauteng Post Office Mail Centre, State Information Technology Agency (SITA) and Telkom in Gauteng from 24 to 25 November 2014.
Thereafter the Committee will visit the USAASA Msinga project, Ikamva Co-Lab and a Rural Post Office in Durban – 26 – 28 November 2014.

Carnarvon and Sutherland
Oversight Visit to the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) Telescope in Carnarvon and the South African Large Telescope (SALT) in Sutherland. This visit is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 25 and Wednesday, 26 November 2014.
The Committee identified a visit to the SKA and SALT as important oversight activities. Both SKA and SALT are Department of Science and Technology initiatives managed by the National Research Foundation (NRF) with enormous potential for human capital development in South Africa, at the same time allowing South Africa to become a key player in the global knowledge economy.

The Portfolio Committee on Social Development will visit the provincial Department of Social Development and its funded projects and programmes, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) offices and its service areas and pay points, and the National Development Agency (NDA) projects. It will also hold meetings with the Non-Profit Organisations, Provincial House of Traditional Leaders and projects that are funded by the department.

Study Tour.
The purpose of the Study Tour is to bring the Portfolio Committee on Energy together with experts from the German government, industry and the private sector and thus provide first-hand experience of the "Energiewende".
Dialogue partners will include Deputy Ministers and other high-ranking officials at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the Federal Foreign Office and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety.
Meetings will be scheduled with financial institutions such as the KFW German Development Bank Group and leading, internationally acclaimed think tanks, i.e. the "Hamburg Institute" and the World Future Council". Visits to pilot projects, such as an energy self-sufficient village near Berlin will also be undertaken. The study tour will also enable the Portfolio Committee on Energy an opportunity for an in-depth exchange with our counterparts on the Bundestag's Energy Committee.
