Ngobeni, Ms LM to ask the Minister of Home Affairs

With reference to the recent sighting of Ms Chidimma Adetshina in Cape Town this week, and given that his department previously indicated that her South African documents were set to be cancelled, (a) how was she able to regain access to the Republic and (b) what are the details of the travel documents she used to enter the Republic; (2) whether she is the subject of an ongoing investigation by his department and/or through referral to other law enforcement agencies; if not, what is the position in this regard; if so, (3) whether his department has any updates on the investigation; if not, what is the position in this regard; if so, where is she currently; (4) whether her mother is also in the Republic; if not, what is the position in this regard; if so, what are the relevant details?

Reply:

(1. a) Preliminary investigations by the department could not establish the correctness of information that Ms Chidimma Adetshina visited South Afica

  1. (b) Entrance into South Africa could not be confirmed.
  2. The investigation against her citizenship, identity document and passport acquisition was concluded and PAJA was issued with the intention to withdraw. Withdrawal and cancellation processes have been communicated to her
  3. There is no further investigation as she is currently out of South Africa.
  4. The mother was arrested by the Department of Home Affairs in Cape Town on 15 February 2025 and a case of fraud and misrepresentation was opened against her and is currently active.
