Thembekwayo, Dr S to ask the Minister of Health

Whether all provinces have been included in the implementation of the uniform statistical reporting system that would enhance the collection and analysis of data related to medical negligence claims; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?

Reply:

No. Not all Provinces have been included in the implementation of the uniform statistical reporting system that would enhance the collection and analysis of data related to medical negligence claims. The Case Management System is the System that enhance the collection and analysis of data related to medical negligence claims.

Of the nine (9) Provinces in the Country, only eight (8) Provinces participated in the Transversal Tender which led to the development of the Case Management System on medico-legal claims. Western Cape indicated at the National Health Council meeting that they would not participate in the Transversal Tender. They have also indicated that they have their own system that they have been using.

END.
