(1)With reference to the reply of the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs to question 1153 on 26 June 2018, what (a) number of environmental health inspectors were employed in each province in the (i) 2015-16, (ii) 2016-17 and (iii) 2017-18 financial years, (b) qualifications did the specified inspectors hold, (c) are the details of any job-specific training that the inspectors underwent and (d) amount was allocated to remunerate the inspectors;

(b) Qualifications which the specified Environmental Health Practitioners (EHPs) / Inspectors hold is National Diploma in Public Health/National Diploma in Environmental Health and/or B-Tech Degree in Environmental Health. The current Diploma is being phased out and the new qualification is a Professional Degree in Environmental Health;

(c) The basic three years Diploma is a job-specific training that the inspectors underwent and each Practitioner may further choose any other job-specific or specialisation training on the vast variety of elements of responsibilities of Environmental Health as defined in the Scope of the Profession of Environmental Health; and

(d) The EHPs remuneration is regulated in terms of DPSA and OSD resolution for those employed within the public service. The amount allocated to remunerate the EHPs was within the Compensation of Employees budget of each respective province for 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/2018 financial years

(2) Most of the specified EHPs/inspectors are registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa; the relevant details are indicated in the table below:
