The new clause which was a substitution for Section 4 of the Act and which had been thoroughly discussed the previous day, provided for the proposed Advisory Committee to the Minister and the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA). The Advisory Committee would be established by the Minister and would advise and act as a consultative body for the Minister and the Authority on matters concerning the corporate governance of the Authority.
Another substantial change that was made was the amendment of Clause 30, which gave the Minister the power to appoint the Appeal Committee instead of giving the power to the Chief Executive Officer of the Authority.
