Adoption of minutes
The Committee adopted its minutes of meetings held on 22 January, 12, 19, 22 and 27 February,  4, 5, 11, 18, 25, 26 March and 6 and 13 and 14 May 2008 minutes on the adoption of the annual report, minutes, and discussions on the strategic planning session.

Draft Committee Report on Department Budget
The Committee adopted its Draft Report on the Department’s Budget with emphasis being placed on the recommendations contained in the Report.

Committee Report on Workplace Discrimination
The Committee adopted its Report on Workplace Discrimination and Employment Equity. The Chair noted that not all Members agreed to some of the recommendations contained in the Report and suggested that further questions could be discussed with presenters at the Committees’ forthcoming two half-day workshop, which would be held on 27 and 28 May 2008. The Committee would still decide whether to debate the Report or just present it in the following plenary session.

Mr E Mtshali (ANC) asked if externally sourced presenters would deliver the presentations at the forthcoming workshops.

It was decided that the Committee would be using presenters from the Department of Labour at the workshop and not outsourced presenters.
