Meeting Summary
The Committee could not form a quorum as most of the Members were busy with other commitments. The issue of self-nominations and late submission of CVs by nominees was raised. It was agreed that these issues would be discussed at the next meeting.
Meeting report
The Chair observed that the Members present did not form a quorum and suggested that they carry out a provisional shortlisting of the nominees and confirm the shortlist the following week. He read out the names of all those nominated for appointment.
Mr P Swart (DA) observed that some of the nominees were self-nominated which was contrary to the criteria prescribed for appointment. He also observed that some nominations were submitted after the expiration of the cut-off date set by the Committee. He suggested that the late submissions be rejected.
The Chair agreed that those names submitted after the cut-off date would be rejected.
Ms M Morutoa (ANC) agreed that the late entries be cut out from the list of nominees and should not be considered by the Committee for short listing.
The Chair concluded that the shortlisted names would be confirmed at the next meeting and that the issue of self-nominations would also be discussed at that meeting.
The meeting was adjourned.
