Introductory remarks by Chairperson
The Chairperson called upon Members to attend the Committee’s Strategic Planning Workshop on its operations for 2008, which would take place on 5 March 2008. Members agreed to the holding of the workshop.

Draft Committee First Term Programme
The Committee adopted its Draft First Term Programme, with amendments.

Upcoming Provincial Oversight visits
The Committee discussed two upcoming oversight visits to the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu Natal provinces. The visits would to take place simultaneously during the period 17 to 20 March 2008. The purpose was to meet with provincial officials, obtain reports on the projects that were being undertaken and also to gain a first hand account by visiting of some of the projects in situ.

The Committee agreed to the programme for the Eastern Cape visit. Members however expressed concern with the programme for the KwaZulu-Natal oversight visit, as the places to be visited might be too far apart. It was decided that further consideration be given to the latter programme..
