ELECTION OF A CHAIRPERSON

SUMMARY
Dr E Schoeman (ANC) was elected as the new Chairperson of the Committee.
MINUTES
Mr Johnny Ramrock (Committee Secretary) stated that, according to the Joint
Rules of Parliament, Members of the Joint Standing Committee must elect a Member
of the Committee as its Chairperson.
Dr E Schoeman (ANC) was nominated and seconded, and thus elected as the new
Chairperson.
He expressed his gratitude in the Committee for having the confidence in his
ability to lead the Committee. He also
expressed his concern regarding the scheduling of meetings on Fridays and
stated that had he approached the Speaker regarding the matter.
Several Committee Members expressed their well wishes on his election.
Mr Peter Daniels was introduced as the Committee’s new researcher.
Dr Schoeman adjourned the meeting.
