MINUTES
Committee Researcher Report on Impact of State of the Nation Address
The Chairperson stated that the Foreign Affairs and the 2007 State of the Nation Address Report shall be used as a reference in the Committee’s strategic planning and should assist the Committee in administrating oversight.

Adoption of Reports
The Chair explained that these reports should be tabled, as this would inform Parliament of the work that has been done. The Committee adopted the following reports, without amendments:

(i) Committee Report on SADC Developments;
(ii) South African Observer Mission: Pretoria, November 2006;
(iii) Final Report of South African Observer Mission to DRC July 2006 Elections;
(iv) Draft Report on Parliamentary Hearing at United Nations, November 2006;
(iv) Draft Report on African, Caribbean, Pacific-European Union Joint Parliamentary Assembly, November 2006;
(vi) Update on South Africa –European Union Relations and
(vii) Committee Report on impact of 2007 State of the Nation Address.

Committee Report on Department 2006 Annual Report
Due to lack of a quorum, the Committee could not pass the Committee Report on the Department of Foreign Affairs 2006 Annual Report and has scheduled a special meeting in the afternoon to adopt this report.

Other Committee business
The Chair informed Members that the Portfolio Committee of Defence has invited the Committee for a joint meeting on South Africa border security, which the Committee has accepted.
