SUMMARY
The aim of the meeting was to agree on the number of candidates on the shortlist. It was clarified that there are only two posts to be filled. A part-time and a full time post. These posts were left vacant by Ms Helen Suzman and Ms Marlene Bossett. Given that there are two posts, the committee agreed to shortlist six candidates and a date for a meeting to confirm and reconcile the shortlists among committee members will be communicated internally.
MINUTES
The meeting officially opened with only five members. The chairperson felt that since there were no serious decisions other than to agree on the number of applicants to be short-listed, the number of members should not be a problem. Other members will be consulted with this decision and if they have any problem then adjustments can be made later.
In response to the chairperson's query as to how many applicants they should shortlist,
Ms Chalmers suggested that the short list be six in order to allow flexibility in arriving at the required two candidates that need to be employed. All members accepted this proposal as the concluding agreement for the meeting.
The chairperson added that she would consult with the Chief Whippery regarding a suitable date on which members can meet for the analysis of the shortlist that each committee member has made. This would be delayed to avoid disadvantaging the latest CVs that had just arrived. The question of gender will be dealt with in that meeting.
The meeting closed.
