Meeting report

AUDITOR-GENERAL AD HOC COMMITTEE

AUDITOR-GENERAL AD HOC COMMITTEE
11 October 2005
REMUNERATION OF THE AUDITOR GENERAL: DELIBERATION; AND COMMITTEE ISSUES: DISCUSSION

Chairperson:
Ms B Hogan (ANC)

MINUTES
The Chairperson began by providing an update on the status of the Ad Hoc Committee. She noted that the Joint Rules Committee and the ANC Deputy Chief Whip had assured her that a new permanent Committee, to deal with issues surrounding the Auditor-General, would be established in the near future. A number of parties had already identified Members to sit on the new Committee. This meant that the Ad Hoc Committee would terminate. The Chairperson added that once the Members of the new Committee had been formally identified, they would receive training.

Mr D Gumede (ANC) enquired whether this affected the Ad Hoc Committee’s present legal status. The Chairperson replied that the legal status of the Ad Hoc Committee remained in place until the new Committee was established.

Remuneration of the Auditor-General: Deliberation
The Chairperson stated that the remuneration of the Auditor-General was confidential and, as a result, the remainder of the meeting was closed to the public.

The meeting was adjourned.
