Committee Report on West Coast Study Tour

SUMMARY
The Chairperson explained that the agenda for the day was to adopt the Committees Programme and the West Coast Study Tour Report. She also made announcements concerning the Committee. The Members considered the programme and after discussion the programme was adopted. The Members deliberated on the Study Tour report and concluded that it would be best if Members used more time to peruse this report and adopt it in future.

MINUTES
The Chairperson suggested that the Members peruse the West Coast Study Tour Report and consider their Programme. She announced that Limpopo Province was holding a Water Summit on Monday 21 February 2005, and that she had accepted an invitation to facilitate one of the sessions. She asked that Members from Limpopo Province forward their names so that those Members would join them at the Summit. The Department had invited the Members to attend the Forestry Indaba on the 18 April 2005. She asked that Members able to attend indicate so during the meeting. She stated that the Committee had not received any dates for the budget vote as yet. She asked that the Members qualifying to sit on the Ministerial Advisory Committee (Members from KwaZulu-Natal, Northwest and the Western Cape) forward their CVs to her office later that day.

Ms Van Der Walt (DA) moved that the Programme be adopted. Mr J Arendse (ANC) seconded this motion, and the Programme was adopted.

Mr Arendse suggested that the study tour report seemed accurate and concise. Mr M Masala (ANC) suggested that the Committee consider the report over the next few days and return to adopt it at a later stage. Ms M Ngwenya (ANC) agreed. The Chairperson decided that the report would be considered on 23 February.

The meeting was adjourned.
