Summary
The Committee considered the Committee Annual Report for 2004, and the Draft programme for 2005. Minor amendments were made to both. The Report and Programme were adopted.

Minutes
Committee Annual Report for 2004
The Committee made minor amendments to the Report. The Chairperson asked Members whether they should adopt the report or deal with the outstanding matters.

Ms N Mbombo (ANC) suggested the adoption of the report.

Mr L Greyling (ID) seconded the suggestion and the report was adopted.

Committee Programme 2005
The Chairperson suggested a visit to the District Six Museum on 8 March and to the Centre for the Book in Cape Town on 11 March. Members then accepted the technical amendments to the programme.

Mpumalanga Committee Report
The Chairperson suggested a need to do follow-up on the recommendations and proposals of the report.

Ms N Mbombo (ANC) enquired about the rampant corruption in the Department and the late payment of artists by the Department.

Mr R Sonto (ANC) reminded the committee that they had promised to do a follow-up in order to rectify the situation.

The Chairperson said artists were supposed to be paid within thirty days.

The Report was adopted.

The Freedom Park Committee Report
Mr Sonto said that the Committee should find out about what had been happening in Voortrekkerhoogte.

The Chairperson had indicated that the Minister, Dr W Serote, was engaged in discussions with the curator of the museum.

The Chairperson suggested that the Director General be invited by the Committee to report about the museum and the Committee agreed.
