PREPARATION FOR INTERVIEWS

SUMMARY
The Chairperson informed the committee that interviews will take place on Monday 15 November 1999. The chairperson asked the committee if there are any recommendations to delete any candidates from the shortlist in respect of the references received. There were no recommendations in this respect.

The chairperson informed the committee that one of the shortlist candidates, Mr Nkosemntu Gladman Nika will be out of the country on Monday, and is only due back on 18 November 1999. Mr Gladman has informed the committee, that he will be unable to attend the interview on Monday, as this trip was preplanned, and part of performing his official duties as General Manager of Eskom. He requested the committee to make provisions to accommodate him for the interview. The committee agreed to allow Mr Gladman to be interviewed on 18 November 1999.

As the committee is a multiparty committee, it was felt that all members from this committee should be part of the 'in camera' interview process. The members were requested not to intimidate the candidates when asking questions, and should restrict the total of questions per candidate to +-10 questions. The interviews will start at 09h45, and each candidate will be interviewed for approximately one hour. The order of the candidates planned for the interview are as follows: Mr Fafie Fortune Mc Kenzie, Mr Shauket A Fakie, Mr Nkosemntu Gladman Nika, Mr Hilmi Daniels, and Mr Singa M Mgqwala.

As there were no further questions, the meeting was adjourned.
