SUMMARY
Members discussed and adopted the report on the Committee Study Tour of the southern part of the Western Cape province from 2-6 August. Report recommendations would be sent to the National Assembly.

MINUTES

The Chairperson briefly discussed the contents of the report and asked for comments on its structure. Copies of the report had to be given to the mayors of the different communities visited, so that they might consider implementing recommendations. The Department should follow up with them on progress.

Discussion
Mr M Sibuyana (IFP) asked if the Committee had visited other provinces previously, as was stated in the report.

The Chairperson responded that the previous Committee in the Second Parliament had visited other provinces.

Ms M Manana (ANC) asked if the previous Committee had a report of previous visits, and if it was possible to get copies of that report.

The Chairperson said she was not abdicating her responsibility, but Members could browse the web and download such reports.

Mr T Ramphele commented that the report covered a wide range of areas and that the content reflected what had happened. He proposed for the adoption of the report.

Ms T Lishivha (ANC) seconded this. Mr S Simmons (NNP) suggested that Members go through the recommendations, so Members could collectively agree on them.

Ms M Manana moved for the adoption of the report and the report was unanimously adopted.

The meeting was adjourned.
