SUMMARY
The Committee met to review its programme and accepted proposed amendments to avoid timetable clashes with the Select Committee on Labour and Public Enterprises as both Committees currently shared a Chair. They decided to cancel the joint visit to Saldanha.

MINUTES
The Chairperson introduced Mr M Erasmus as the new Committee Secretary. She then introduced the draft Committee Programme. They needed to avoid timetable clashes with the Select Committee on Labour and Public Enterprises as both Committees currently shared a Chairperson.

They decided to cancel the joint visit to Saldanha on 27 August as that day had been set aside for a workshop. 3 September was reserved for training and a briefing by the Department of Trade and Industry on Somme's strategy.

The Committee meeting for 20 August was cancelled because the Chairperson had to attend a 'women's programme' in Parliament. The proposed agenda of the Department of Trade and Industry briefing on the Companies Amendment Act and Madrid Protocol would instead be discussed on 24 August. The Committee agreed.

The week of 6-10 September was set aside for Members to visit their respective provinces. On 14 September, the Department of Foreign Affairs would give them a briefing on the Pan African Parliament. The days of 16-17 November were dedicated to a visit to Durban and Richards Bay.

The Committee Secretary and Ms Phumza Mpoyiya, Secretary for the Select Committee on Labour and Public Enterprises, redraft the programme. Mr Gamede and Mr DG Mkono (ANC) proposed acceptance of the revised programme and it was unanimously adopted.

The meeting was adjourned.
