ELECTION OF CHAIRPERSON
MINUTES
Mr B Kali, secretary of the Justice Portfolio Committee, opened the meeting by asking for nominationsfor committee chairperson. Advocate J H de Lange was nominated. There were no other nominations nor were there any objections noted to the said nomination. Mr Kali then announced Mr de Lange as the chairperson and he asked him to address the Committee.
Mr de Lange mentioned the pressing need to amend the Prevention of Organized Crime Bill so that it could be passed the following week. Mr de Lange informed the Committee that on Thursday the 19 August there would be a briefing by the Minister.
Mr de Lange asked members to attend the meeting of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Prevention of Organised Crime Amendment Bill which would sit that afternoon. He then adjourned the meeting.
