Tabled Committee Reports

The Committee met to consider and adopt its reports on the Rates and Monetary Amounts and Amendment of Revenue Laws Bill, the Taxation Laws Amendment Bill ad Tax Administration Laws Amendment Bill. The Bills themselves were also considered and voted on. The reports and Bills were all accepted with the DA, EFF & FF+ reserving their views on the reports and Bills.

Committee Report: Rates and Monetary Amounts and Amendment of Revenue Laws Bill [B25-2022]

The Chairperson said the Committee would go through the Bill formally after it was considered yesterday. He said that, as Members would know, there is limited room for the Committee to make changes. As with the Taxation Laws Amendment Bill (TLAB), most of the issues were around the Health Promotions Levy and the Sugary Levy.

Tax Administration Laws Amendment Bill [B27-2022]

The Chairperson said the Bill concerned implementation of the TLAB Bill and policies in that Bill.

Committee Report: Tax Administration Laws Amendment Bill [B27-2022]

The Chairperson went through the report page by page.

A minor amendment was made to the month of the introduction of the Bill at the beginning of the report.

The report was adopted.

The EFF, FF+ and DA reserved their rights on the report.

The Chairperson noted the Committee would be dealing with the General Laws (Anti-Money Laundering and Combating Terrorism Financing) Amendment Bill next Wednesday. It will deal with the report on the Bill on the Friday. The Bill will be processed in the House on 13 December. The Chairperson said he gathered that civil society had calmed down and seemed to have “met the end of the road” on the public participation, given time constraints.

The Select Committee on Appropriations is meeting tomorrow at 13h30 to deal with the appropriations bills voting.
